Oh hey, November! You are such a special month, because it’s Thanksgiving month! Speaking of which, is only 17 days away! It is one of my favorite Holidays because I believe it is good for the soul to be Thankful for what we have, but it is also really nice to see family and enjoy each other’s company while enjoying some really great food. Last month, was a busy month for me but I still managed to write up a goals post for the month! Later, we will see how I did on it. It has finally been feeling like Fall lately, which makes me super happy because I am a fan of sweater weather and bonfires, which have been happening a lot lately!
Since last month, I have officially transitioned back to just one job and the new job is finally starting to get a little bit easier, which is a total blessing. The last couple of years, I have done an “I Am Thankful” Series on the blog in November, but this year I decided to switch it up and just do a goals post instead. Blogging everyday in November about what I am thankful for is really difficult. I might do one of those posts later on, but for now this will suffice. The posts on thankfulness are amazing though, and I enjoy reading them, but this year has just been a little too busy for me to keep up with it.
This year has flown by so fast, and we are getting so close to a new year! I think each year seems to go by faster and faster than it did the year before. I think because of this, that it is important to slow down a bit and soak up every second we have because time really does fly and I don’t want to miss anything. So many things happen daily, and we need to hold those we love close and soak up every minute we can, because time is slipping away. Anyways, let’s see how I did on the goals from last month + make some new ones!
OCTOBER GOALS | PERSONAL REVISITED:
Figure out ways to better manage stress + anxiety.
-I am still working on this one, but so far I have learned that taking a relaxing bath with some essential oils and epsom salt seems to help wonders! As well as taking naps, because there is not a lot that sleep can’t fix!
Start going to bed earlier to get more rest.-I have been trying to do this more. So far, I have started going to bed around 9:30 or 9 when possible and it seems to be helping me a lot. Except mornings are still hard for me and the struggle is real to get out of bed!
Research more about college degrees to find a good one to suit me.-I have done this, and decided that Interdisciplinary Studies is the way to go. However, I will be transferring back to my home college and taking classes online next semester. So, hopefully this will go well!
Host a few bonfires with family & friends!Absolutely done this! A few times now actually, and it has been a total joy! I love being able to have bonfires with friends and family. They are so much fun and s’mores are just better over an open flame!
- Make a date night jar for the hubby & I!
-I haven’t actually gotten around to this yet, but I really need to! I will need to get some popsicle sticks and take a few minutes to do this really soon!
OCTOBER GOALS: BLOG REVISITED:
Research about blogging courses+ take one!
-I have definitely been researching a lot about blogging courses, and I think I have found a few. Now, I just need the time and the funds to make it happen!
Research how to do better with affiliate marketing & start making money. -This one is still in the works, but I am hard at it with trying to get into affiliate marketing! It is a bit hard to get into at first, but I am determined to get good at it + offer things that my readers love!
- Look into getting a content management system to better manage my time + resources.
-My husband is actively working on building me a CMS to help me, but it is a process. That’s okay though, it is something that is worth waiting for, because being honest, CoSchedule just isn’t in the budget right now.
Make a list of improvements that I can make to the blog for it to be better.-This is a list that is never-ending sometimes! I always love making improvements + refinements over time to make this space the best it can be.
- Work on planning out blocks of time each day to dedicate to working on the blog.
-This hasn’t happened yet, given that my schedule is all over the place currently, but it is still something I am working towards!
Rewards come when you’re willing to get down to the nitty gritty and work hard. They say that the devil is in the details, and that is true, because you can’t move forward in anything unless all the details are lined up first. If you are wanting to make progress in strides, ya gotta be willing to get down and dirty with the detail cause ya can’t get pearls without a little grit. Good things take time, patience, and a lot of effort. Even though things take time & effort, the end result of the things we work toward are so rewarding and worth it because we are able to see our goals + dreams and all of our hard work come to fruition because of getting down to the nitty gritty of things. And that, friends, is something we should celebrate + be thankful for in this season of gratefulness!
NOVEMBER GOALS: PERSONAL
- Try not to get so upset when things don’t work out like I hope.
-Ya’ll, it is more than embarrassing to admit, but most of the time when things don’t pan out the way I hoped they would, I get kind of upset. It is so hard for me to keep my head up when things don’t work out the way I like, but it is something I am trying to do better at!
- Be kinder to myself. Especially when it comes to comparison!
-We all know that comparison is the thief of joy, but that doesn’t stop us from comparing ourselves to others lives on the internet. I am so guilty of it, and it is my goal to be kinder to myself. Speak uplifting words of encouragement over myself daily + fill my spirit with what the Holy Spirit says of me instead of what the world does!
Spend less time with Netflix & more time with Jesus.
-I know that Netflix is taking up so much of my time, and that time should be better spent in The Word instead of the latest episodes of my favorite shows.
- Practice positive thinking.
-I may have mentioned this before, but it is a good and effective goal to have! There was one day I was dreading going to work, and decided to choose joy instead, and the entire day (and my outlook) completely changed! I am trying to live by Colossians 3:23 that says “Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people”.
- Try to eat healthier!
-It’s no secret that I love my junk food. It’s also a really bad habit of mine (and I complain of being tired)! I am trying to make healthier choices, even when it requires more effort.
NOVEMBER GOALS: BLOG
- Try to plan content out in advance.
-I am the world’s worst at planning, even though I have a planner for content! I hope to get better about planning out content in advance + writing it.
- Write out how I want to refine my blog’s focus.
-The longer that I write, the more I start to realize the things I love writing about the most. Writing out the things I want to zero in on with my blog helps me refine it.
- Come up with a plan + try to stick to it.
-Sometimes it is hard to sit down and come up with a long-term or even short-term plan for my site, but I hope to be able to do that soon and be effective with it.
- (Hopefully) create a lightbox so I can take my own photos!
-This has been a goal I have had for quite some time now. I want to be able to take + style my own photos for my site instead of relying solely on free stock photos to better refine my brand and blog. It’s always great to have a cohesiveness to your brand + blog and having similar style photos is one way to do that!
- Take at least one helpful course on blogging.
-There is so much information out there, and I know that I could use a little extra knowledge. Hopefully I can take at least one course that will help me in my journey towards being a full-time blogger!
Like every month, this month I have lots of worthy goals that I hope to achieve! It can definitely feel overwhelming when we have long lists of goals we want to accomplish, but that is why they are called goals! We work hard toward achieving them, and be grateful for the ones we do get to cross off, and continue striving for progress toward the others. Good things take time, including our goals! So don’t be discouraged, just go one day at a time, one goal at a time and move forward.
Q 4 U:
What is one thing you are thankful for this month?
-I am thankful for the ability to write, because I have developed a deep love and appreciation for it.
